Remember, one gram of carbohydrates contains four calories, and all the grains we have mentioned, whether it is suji (semolina), jawar (sorghum), or bajra (pearl millet), all have calories. Even in besan (gram flour), there are equal calories of carbohydrates and protein, so it also has calories. Eating besan ki roti or anything made from besan, like chana (chickpeas), will not decrease your weight. So it would be best to cut out cereals and lentils like what we nowadays call namkeen (savory), which is made from lentils and is also high-calorie food. And one thing to remember is that this is not the highest-calorie food.


High-calorie foods are fried foods, which will lead to weight gain. However, your weight may stay the same once you award these serials. You need to understand this fact. Apply it to your life and see how quickly your weight decreases.


Finding Your Ideal Weight


I have had patients lose ten kilograms in one month. But it is okay to lose ten kilograms; the goal is to lose five or six kilograms per month until your weight reaches the ideal level. Ideal weight means your BMI is 24-25. If you can achieve that, then you have succeeded.
